- Full-time at 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
- Fixed-term for 2 years, 9 months

The NZILBB is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on two research projects
funded by the Royal Society of New Zealand Marsden Fund.

The first project looks at patterns of phonological and phonetic priming in
corpora of natural speech, as a potential predictor of phonological variation
and change. The second project also looks at phonological variation and
change, this time within the Southland dialect - New Zealand's main (perhaps
only) regional dialect.

Applications are invited from researchers interested in sociophonetics,
language variation and change, connections between sociolinguistics and
linguistic theory, and empirical approaches to understanding variation and
change in speech.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be employed by the New Zealand Institute of
Language Brain and Behaviour, at the University of Canterbury. They will be
primarily supervised by Dr Lynn Clark but will also work closely with the
other academic members of the research team - Dr Kevin Watson and Professor
Jen Hay.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in a linguistics, preferably with a
focus on sociophonetics. Applicants with experience of using spoken corpora
and with skills in statistical analysis in R will be at an advantage.
