Meeting Description:
Discourse-Pragmatic Variation & Change (DiPVaC) is a biennial international
conference series which was devised to further the quantitative analysis of
variation and change at the level of discourse-pragmatics. DiPVaC4 will be
held from May 28 to 30, 2018, at the University of Helsinki.
The confirmed plenarists are:
Yael Maschler, University of Haifa
Terttu Nevalainen, University of Helsinki
Heike Pichler, Newcastle University
Call for Workshop Proposals:
The first call for papers will go out in the spring of 2017.
In the meantime, we invite proposals for workshops to be held at DiPVaC4.
Workshops must be hands-on and offer participants new methods, tools and/or
applications for corpus-based, quantitative analyses of discourse-pragmatic
variation and change. Proposals must be submitted by e-mail to the conference
organizer, Elizabeth Peterson (elizabeth.peterson at helsinki.fi), and will be
evaluated by the DiPVaC steering committee according to originality and
impact.
Proposals must include the following information:
1. Details of workshop organizer(s) (and facilitators), including names,
affiliations, e-mail addresses and a short description of research expertise
2. Workshop title
3. Workshop length (maximum 3 hours including breaks)
4. Room/technical requirements (e.g. computer lab, seminar room)
5. Workshop description and delivery format (max. 500 words)
Proposal submission deadline: January 16, 2017
Notification of acceptance: February 17, 2017
