The conference “German Abroad 2,” the follow-up conference to “German Abroad,” held in Vienna in July 2014, focuses on structural and sociolinguistic issues of German-speaking minority groups from the perspectives of variationist sociolinguistics, language contact, and multilingualism. The focus of the conference is on German-speaking minorities in the Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania, but contributions focusing on other language contact situations involving German-speaking minority groups are also welcome.

Die Konferenz “German Abroad 2” fokussiert system- und soziolinguistische Besonderheiten deutschsprachiger Sprachminderheiten aus den Perspektiven der Variationslinguistik sowie der Sprachkontakt- und Mehrsprachigkeitsforschung. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf Sprachminderheiten in Nord- und Südamerika, Asien, Europe, Afrika und Ozeanien, aber Vorträge zu anderen (Sprach)kontaktsituationen sind auch willkommen. Dies ist die Nachfolgekonferenz der Konferenz “German Abroad,” welche im Juli 2014 an der Universität Wien statt fand.

Call for Papers: 

Talks will be allotted 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Abstracts should be approximately 300 words (excluding references) and may be submitted using EasyAbstracts provided by the LinguistList at http://linguistlist.org/confservices/EasyAbs/index.cfm 

Deadline for abstract submission: March 1, 2016.


Die Länge der Vorträge wird 20 Minuten betragen, gefolgt von 10 Minuten Diskussion. Abstracts sollten ca. 300 Wörter lang sein (ohne bibliographische Angaben) und können über EasyAbstracts unter http://linguistlist.org/confservices/EasyAbs/index.cfm eingereicht werden.
