Meeting Description:
The links between monologue and dialogue could be analyzed at different levels
and they vary according to our representations, to language uses and social
practices. Dialogue could be sometimes quite monologic, and monologues are
always echoes of the others’ voices. Besides, monologue could be defined in
various ways, it is either considered as a specific language practice or
categorized as a form of dialogue. This raises several issues which we invite
you to discuss with us at the final Conference of the Sorbonne Paris Cité
project on Monologue : forms and practices.
We will focus on several aspects:
- How monologue and dialogue are articulated in linguistic theory through
linguistic analyses of written and oral/multimodal data
- How monologue and dialogue are articulated on stage
- Représentations of inner thought in poetry and in narrative prose between
monologue and dialogue
- Children’s monologue or egocentric dialogue through which they express their
sensations, their projects, their imagination and echo the intermingling
voices they have internalized.
Performances of guest artists will alternate with scientific presentations.
