Description:
The Department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex is
seeking to appoint a one year Fixed-Term, Part-time Lecturer in
Psycholinguistics to start in October 2016. This role will be for 18 hours a
week (0.5fte) from 1 October 2016 – 30th September 2017. The successful
candidate will have a background in linguistically-informed experimental
research into any aspect of the acquisition or use of human language with a
thorough understanding of the state of the art in First Language Acquisition
and experimental techniques in psycholinguistics. You will contribute to
teaching in psycholinguistics with responsibility for a maximum 4 modules on
our postgraduate degree in MA Psycholinguistics and our BA English Language
and Language Development. You may also be required to contribute to MA
supervision.
The contract is fixed-term (one year) and directed at teaching and scholarship
rather than research, but a strong research background will be essential with
the department’s goal to deliver research-led teaching. You must have a PhD in
Psycholinguistics/Linguistics or a related area. We are particularly looking
for expertise, and experience of teaching psycholinguistic experimental
techniques and data analysis using R statistics.
