Meeting Description:

In celebration of his 65th birthday, an International symposium on the theme
''Trends in English Language/Linguistics & Literature in an African &Global
Perspective'' will be organised for Augustin Simo Bobda. His friends and
colleagues around the world are invited to submit abstracts for the event and
to join those in Cameroon to acknowledge the contribution of this great
linguist.


Call for Papers: 

Theme: Trends in English Language/Linguistics & Literature in an African
&Global Perspective

There will be an international symposium to honour Professor Augustin Simo
Bobda on the occasion of his 65th birthday at the Campus of the University of
Yaoundé I, Cameroon from April 5 – 7, 2017. This international event is being
organized by Professor Simo Bobda’s former and current students, colleagues
and friends from home and abroad, to honor him and celebrate his long and
successful career in English language & linguistics.

Discussions will centre on, but not limited to the following topics:
- Phonological features of New Englishes
- Evolution of Nativised Varieties of English, esp. in Africa
- Inter-variety Features in (African) Englishes
- Indigenized Englishes in Literature
- Language Use/Usage in ESL Communities
- Code-switching/Code-mixing/Interferences
- Bilingualism & Multiculturalism
- Pidgins & Creoles
- Language Policy & Language Planning
- Methodology in Contact Linguistics 
- Language Contact and Identity
- Literatures, Identities and Cultures
- Literature & Language Teaching/Testing
- English Language & Social Media
- Corpus Linguistics, Pragmatics,  Discourse Analysis, Sociolinguistics  etc.

Participants are invited to submit on or before October 30, 2016, an abstract
of not more than 500 words, clearly stating the purpose of the paper. Authors
of accepted proposals will be notified by January 30, 2017. After the
symposium, the style guide for preparation of final chapters will be made
available. As a pre-view, July 30 2017 is fixed as deadline for submission of
final paper for review. Authors will be notified about acceptance/rejection of
their chapters latest October 30, 2017. Please e-mail all enquiries and
