Description:
As a Linguist, you will be annotating and evaluating linguistic data in
German. You will also contribute to a number of other tasks to improve natural
language processing at Google.
The tasks include:
- Annotating and reviewing linguistic data
- Labeling text with semantic, syntactic and morphological features
- Annotating lexicon entries according to guidelines
- Evaluating current system outputs
- Deriving NLP data for new and on-going projects
- Creating guidelines for semantic, syntactic and morphological projects
- Consulting with researchers and engineers on the development of linguistic
databases
- Monitoring and controlling quality of the data annotated by the team
Minimum requirements:
- Native(-level) speaker of German and fluent in English
- Degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics
- Experience in annotation work
- Knowledge of semantics, syntax, morphology and/or lexicography
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts; learn in-house tools
- Keen interest in technology and computer-literate
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics
- Previous project management and people management experience
- Knowledge of a programming language or previous experience with a Linux
environment
Project duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)
This is not a permanent position but a contract position.
Location: We plan to have just one team, either in Munich or Hamburg.
