Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics
Subject Language(s): English (eng)
Call Deadline: 31-Mar-2016
Meeting Description:
As part of the 4th conference of the International Society for the Linguistics
of English (ISEL4), there will be a workshop on ellipsis, titled ''New
Horizons in Ellipsis in English: Its Syntax, Semantics and Language
Processing''. The workshop aims to provide a venue for researchers to share
their works on a wide range of ellipsis phenomena (such as VP ellipsis,
sluicing, fragment answers, sprouting, etc.) from not only a syntactic and
semantic perspective but also viewpoints maintained by researchers working in
other linguistic subfields like pragmatics and language processing. The
ultimate goal of this workshop is to enhance our understanding of the nature
of ellipsis, raising the awareness of a recent move that favors an integrated
approach to ellipsis both in the sentence level and beyond it. We cordially
invite proposals about various ellipsis phenomena viewed from a variety of
perspectives such as syntax, semantics, pragmatics, language processing, and
others.
2nd Call for Papers:
We are soliciting papers on various ellipsis phenomena in English (possibly in
comparison with other languages) from any theoretical perspectives. Please
submit your abstract via EasyChair by March 31, 2016 (deadline extended), and
you can have access to the EasyChair page at
http://wa.amu.edu.pl/isle4/submission_of_abstracts.html.
- Your abstract must be fully anonymous, so please make sure your name is not
included in the document.
- Your abstract should be between 300-500 words, excluding the title,
examples, and references, if any.
- The preferred format is A4 sheet with 2cm margins on all sides, Times New
Roman 14 points for the title and 12 points for the body.

For further information about the guidelines, please refer to the conference
