Anglophone (Inter) Cultural Negotiations: Multiculturalism and Globalization
in the Era of Uncertainty

The Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Philosophy,
University of Sarajevo, is pleased to announce its 2nd International
Conference on English Language, Literature, Teaching and Translation Studies
(CELLTTS) which will take place on 30 September - 1 October 2016. For the
second time we invite scholars and experts in their respective fields of
research to Sarajevo to present and discuss their research findings and
exchange experience and ideas with their colleagues from the region and the
world.

In the world of multiculturalism and globalism it has become necessary to
enquire whether these concepts and trends have turned into mere isms and what
might the modalities be for genuine (inter) cultural dialogues, encounters and
negotiations in and for the Anglophone contexts. Are globalization and
interculturalism/multiculturalism near synonyms or mutually exclusive terms?
What are their possible limitations or advantages when it comes to identity
politics, cultural diversity and intercultural education? How genuinely
multicultural are we and is the professed progress of 'going global' a wishful
thinking or a realistic objective for the future? How is the globalized
multicultural world to cope with the challenges of both corporatism and
terrorism? Finally, how are these issues affecting the Anglo-American
humanities and vice versa, that is, how can language and literary studies
provide a meaningful response to the challenges of today, how can teaching and
translation studies make intercultural negotiations fruitful?

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Indiana University and
as such can receive donations through Indiana University Foundation. We
also collect donations via eLinguistics Foundation, a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization with the federal tax number 45-4211155. Either
way, the donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your
state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the
IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that
they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization.
Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department
and sending us a form that the Indiana University Foundation fills in
and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative
procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
