Linguistic Field(s): Computational Linguistics; Morphology; Syntax; Typology
Call Deadline: 05-Jun-2016
Meeting Description:
Recent years have seen advances in our understanding of morphosyntactic variation in the world’s languages, as well as within specific language families. This, combined with the increased use of computational methods in linguistic comparison - including large databases and phylogenetic methods - has brought questions relating to the collection, analysis, representation and visualisation of large-scaled comparative morphosyntactic data to the fore.
This workshop aims to bring together researchers interested in questions of data representation in the study of morphosyntactic variation and invites talks addressing these questions from empirical, methodological,
computational, conceptual and/or theoretical perspectives.
The workshop is linked to the Leverhulme-funded project on morphosyntactic variation in Bantu (https://www.soas.ac.uk/linguistics/morphosyntactic-variation-in-bantu/).
Call for Papers:
Abstracts are invited for 20 minute presentations. Abstracts should be no longer than one page of A4. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 5 June 2016. For further information, please contact Rozenn Guérois on rg38 at soas.ac.uk.

This year the LINGUIST List hopes to raise $79,000. This money
will go to help keep the List running by supporting all of our
Student Editors for the coming year.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Indiana University and
as such can receive donations through Indiana University Foundation. We
also collect donations via eLinguistics Foundation, a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization with the federal tax number 45-4211155. Either
way, the donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your
state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the
IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that
they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization.
Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department
and sending us a form that the Indiana University Foundation fills in
and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative
procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.
Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
