The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
(http://www.artsandsciences.sc.edu/dllc/) and the Linguistics Program
(http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/ling/) at the University of South Carolina
invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the
field of Chinese Linguistics and Pedagogy. The successful candidate will be
able to teach Chinese at all levels, help supervise language instruction in
the university’s new Chinese Studies major, and participate in the
undergraduate and graduate programs in linguistics. Candidates may specialize
in fields such as Chinese pedagogy, second language acquisition, or the core
linguistics areas of phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. Additional
requirements: demonstrated interest in promoting effective language teaching;
a record of commitment to scholarly research; and experience teaching at the
college level. Responsibilities include two courses per semester in Chinese
language and linguistics. A Ph.D. in Chinese linguistics or related field
completed by August 1, 2017 and native or near native fluency in Chinese and
English are required.
