Meeting Description:

MCC aims to integrate and promote both theoretical and applied research from
the interface of semantics, pragmatics, and discourse studies. It also invites
original research from linguistic interfaces (e.g. music, sign language,
professional language varieties, psycholinguistics).

Call for Papersː

Abstracts (max. 300 words) are invited for papers on topics relevant to the
fields of meaning, context & cognition with the goal of the conference to
integrate and promote both theoretical and applied research from the interface
of semantics, pragmatics and discourse studies. 

During the 2017 meeting we would like to focus on the following areas:

- Discourseː in a synchronic and diachronic perspective
- Contextː the semantics-pragmatics interface, the explicit-implicit
distinction
- Speech Acts and Speech Actionː speech act theory-oriented research,
interactional approaches, politeness, non-sentential speech acts
- Language and Emotion emotion and linguistic performance, humour,
intercultural perspectives, politeness and emotion
- Linguistic Interfacesː e.g. sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics,
neurolinguistics, political studies, media studies, emancipatory pragmatics
and anthropological linguistics, cognitive studies, intersection of philosophy
of language and linguistics, interdisciplinarity – merits & conflicts
- Intercultural Perspectives on Discourse Semanticsː contrastive studies,
media discourse, global communication, bilingual and multilingual contexts,
intercultural clashes and misunderstandings, translation-related issues
- Applicationsː corpus studies, LSP, experimental studies, comparative &
contrastive studies, enhancing development and teachability of
linguistic-pragmatic skills in bilingual and multilingual contexts

Abstracts for presentations and posters should not be longer than 300 words.
Abstracts will be double-blind peer-reviewed, and should include sufficient
details to allow reviewers to judge the scientific merits of the work. Paper
presentations will be allowed 20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for discussion.
Presentations will be in English; organizers also envisage a possibility of a
session in Polish. 

Participants without a paper are asked to register on-line.

Abstracts can be submitted on-line or sent to mcc at uni.lodz.pl
