Numerous scholarships are available for postgraduate research at our
university:
- Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS): All full-time MPhil and PhD students who
hold a first degree with second-class honours first division (or equivalent)
or above are normally considered eligible to receive the PGS of HK$15,700 per
month (HK$16,140 after PhD probation is confirmed).
- Hong Kong PhD Fellowships (HKPF): This is a highly competitive, prestigious
award for outstanding candidates to pursue their research degree in HK,
comprising a monthly scholarship of HK$20,000 and a conference and
research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 per year. Applications for the
HKPF should be submitted by the deadline of 1 December 2016, HKT 12:00, to the
Research Grants Council, and the HKPF reference number then has to be included
in the full RPg application to HKU.
- University Postgraduate Fellowships (UPF): For candidates with excellent
academic performances, this fellowship is at a value of HK$70,000 on top of
the PGS. There is no separate application for UPF; applicants who have applied
for the HKPF will automatically be considered for the UPF.
In addition, all full-time MPhil and PhD students are eligible for conference
and/or travel support for overseas conferences or research activities.
