At Amazon, we take pride in building complete end-to-end solutions, staring
from researching a problem, implementing the solution, building a scalable and
reliable service and ensuring the service is there when you need it.
This is a six months contractor position, with possible renewals. The
successful candidate will work out of our Cambridge, UK offices.
We are looking for a phonologist/phonetician to help us with various
annotation tasks in Japanese, including the following:
- Transliteration of kanjis into kana
- Phonemic transcription
- Annotation of prosodic and accentual characteristics of speech
- Carrying out listening tests to report incorrect output in our voices
- Proofreading text to ensure lack of typos or undesirable content.
Basic qualifications
- Degree in linguistics, ideally with focus on phonetics/phonology
- Native level proficiency in Japanese (standard Tokyo dialect)
- Able to communicate in English
Additional desirable qualifications
- Comfortable with command line interface in *nix environments
- Knowledge of regular expressions
- Phonemic transcription
