Meeting Description:

AustraLex was founded in 1990, as a companion association to EURALEX. It is
committed to the development of lexicography in all languages of the
Australasian region.

AustraLex's interests include:

- Dictionaries of all kinds (monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual, general
and specialist, in book and online)
- The theory of lexicography
- The history of lexicography
- The practice of dictionary-making
- Dictionary use
- Terminology and terminography
- Corpus lexicography
- Computational lexicography and dictionaries for natural language processing
- Lexicology

The topic of this year's AustraLex conference is: Intersections between oral
narratives, traditions, lexicography and new media.


Call for Papers:

The theme for AustraLex 2017 is ‘Intersections between oral narratives,
traditions, lexicography and new media’. Papers may address a wide range of
areas associated with lexicography, including, but not limited to:  

- Contact linguistics
- Culture and identity
- E-lexicography
- Endangered languages
- Learners’ dictionaries
- Lexicology
- Music and language
- Onomastics
- Oral traditions and language
- Phraseology
- Paremiology
- Revival Linguistics
- Social empowerment through language
- Specialist dictionaries
- Terminology

If you would like to submit a paper or a poster, please upload an abstract of
no more than 300 words in a Word document to
http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/AustraLex2017 by 31 December 2016. Abstracts
may include up to 5 references, but references are not compulsory. The
reference list at the end of the abstract will not be included in the word
count. Final notification of acceptance will be sent out by 31 March 2017, but
early submissions will be reviewed more quickly and authors will be notified
as soon as possible. Please name your file: Family name_presentation_title
(e.g. Miller_online_dictionaries).

Student Bursaries:

Up to two student bursaries are available to assist students from Australia
and New Zealand to attend the conference and present a paper. Applicants must
be full-time students in an Honours degree or a higher degree research
program. Each applicant must supply a 2 page prospectus of their intended
presentation (including results) along with the standard 300-word abstract.  A
cover note from their supervisor/head of school must be included with each
application. Please contact the Secretary (m.c.salisbury at massey.ac.nz) for
further details.
