Description:

Assistantship in English Linguistics (50-100%) 

The successful candidate is expected to conduct research in the area of
Cognitive Linguistics or first or second language acquisition, with a focus on
English. Experience with corpus linguistics or experimental methods is a plus.
The applicant will have to teach introductory courses (BA-level) in this area
as well as in other fields of English linguistics. The teaching load is 2, 3,
or 4 hours/week depending on the percentage of the contract. Moreover he/she
is expected to contribute to the administration of the Department of English. 

Applicants need a university degree (MA or equivalent) with a linguistic
profile and a specialty in English. It is expected that the candidates work
toward a PhD. The conditions of employment follow the personnel and salary
regulations of the University of Basel. The contracts are limited term (1+3
years for PhD candidates). The assistantship is linked to the chair of
Cognitive Linguistics and Language Acquisition (Prof. Dr. Heike Behrens).
