Description:

The University of Florida invites applications for a nine-month,
non-tenure-track Visiting Lecturer position in Linguistics for the 2017-2018
academic year. The position is renewable for up to two additional years
subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance. Primary duties
for the position will be graduate and undergraduate instruction, with an
anticipated 3/3 teaching assignment. Courses will include Introduction to
Linguistics, graduate and undergraduate courses in syntax, morphology, and/or
language documentation, and electives in the applicant’s area of
specialization. A PhD at the time of appointment is required and previous
teaching experience is highly desirable. Participation in departmental
activities, research, and student advising is encouraged. Salary is
competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a

The Linguistics Department at the University of Florida is a vibrant and
congenial unit consisting of 9 full-time faculty and 11 affiliated faculty in
the departments of Anthropology; Languages, Literatures, and Cultures; Spanish
and Portuguese; and Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. We offer a BA, MA
and PhD in Linguistics, as well as an undergraduate minor in TESOL and a
graduate certificate in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching. We have
faculty expertise in a wide range of linguistic subfields with current
specializations in language documentation, African linguistics,
sociolinguistics, neuro/psycholinguistics, and the core areas. UF Linguistics
will be hosting the Institute on Collaborative Language Research (CoLang) in
