Meeting Description:
The Linguistic Society of New Zealand conference is a major annual event for
the linguistics communities in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific region.
The theme of this year's conference is ''Doing and Applying Linguistics in a
Globalised World''.
We particularly encourage postgraduate students to attend the conference and
offer a substantial student discount on registration fees.
Plendary Speaker:
We are delighted to announce that our plenary speaker for this year’s
conference is Professor Ingrid Piller of Macquarie University in Sydney.
Call for Papers:
The Linguistics Society of New Zealand is pleased to invite abstracts for
paper and poster proposals for our 2016 conference and general meeting at
Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand.
This year’s conference theme is Doing and Applying Linguistics in a Globalised
World. The theme is, however, open to interpretation, and we will consider
proposals that relate to any specialization within linguistics.
Presentation Formats:
We invite abstracts for the following:
- Oral presentation (20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions)
- Poster presentations (one A0 size poster)
- Teaching Linguistics presentations (20 minutes plus 10 minutes for
questions)
Abstract Submission Procedure:
To submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation, please send an email
to LSNZ-Massey at massey.ac.nz. The email text should contain:
1. Names of all authors
2. Affiliation
3. Title of talk
4. Contact information for corresponding author
5. Preference of oral presentation or poster presentation
Please attach a Word document containing an abstract of maximum 300 words,
excluding the bibliography. The abstract should make clear the research
questions, the results of the research, and the importance of the work. The
abstract should be more than a proposal, though work in development is
welcome.
The teaching linguistics papers will be presented in special 2 hour session.
Please indicate in your email if your abstract is to be considered for
inclusion in this session.
Abstracts should be anonymous, containing no identifying information. All
abstracts will be sent out for peer review. Decisions will be sent to authors
by Monday 10 October 2016.
Please note that the submission deadline provided here is an extended
deadline.
