Abstract:

Cet ouvrage s’attache, au moyen d’une analyse épistémologique minutieuse d’une
part significative du corpus benvenistien, à mettre en évidence une
spécificité remarquable de la linguistique benvenistienne, qui rend l’impasse
à laquelle elle conduit tout particulièrement digne de réflexion: d’être tout
à la fois présaussurienne lorsqu’il s’agit de linguistique générale et
éminemment saussurienne dans son versant idiomologique.

This study undertakes a detailed epistemological analysis of a large section
of Benveniste’s writings in order to illustrate some remarkable features of
his linguistic work which is at the same time pre-Saussurean, inasmuch as it
constitutes a theory in general linguistics, and decidedly Saussurean because
of its idiomological elements.
