Abstract:
Cette présente étude porte sur les proverbes Balant (de la variété ganja) du
point de vue linguistique. Autrement dit, il est question de comprendre,
travers les images contenues dans les proverbes, la logique de la pensée
balant, son univers socioculturel, et son organisation sociale. Appartenant à
la famille atlantique du phylum Niger-Congo, au Sénégal, le balant est parlé
majoritairement en Casamance, dans le Balantakunda.
S’il est vrai que les quelques études menées sur les Balant et leur langue
concernent les domaines phonologiques, morphologiques ou morphosyntaxiques,
cependant les recherches sur le plan sociolinguistique n’ont pas encore attiré
l’attention des chercheurs. Cette étude sur les proverbes qui, lui, relève de
la sociolinguistique, est alors non seulement un complément à ce vaste champ
des sciences du langage, mais elle nous sert également d’outil de
documentation de cette langue balant tout en empêchant la perdition de ces
proverbes, au moment où ce savoir tend à se perdre avec les mouvements de
modernisation, de scolarisation qui valorisent la culture écrite dite
rationalisée.
Le travail comporte donc quatre chapitres à savoir : (I) Présentation, (II)
Typologie du balant, (III) Etude thématique des proverbes balant, (IV)
Typologie formelle des proverbes balant.
