Description:

The Max-Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, Germany,
investigates the attentional, cognitive and affective mechanisms of aesthetic
perception and evaluation.

The Institute currently offers PhD positions for projects regarding the
aesthetic perception and evaluation of language and literature. The positions
are awarded for a period of three years (with a possible extension of one more
year). Starting date is flexible.

Applicants should hold an MA, have an excellent record in their respective
disciplines (psychology, literary studies, linguistics, computational
linguistics, or neuroscience), be interested in cooperations across
disciplines and prepared to work in a multi-language environment.

Applicants should submit a 5-10 pages prospectus of their research project, or
at least a sketch of ideas, along with two reading samples. 

Salaries are determined following the salary scale E 13 (German TVÖD/Bund).
PhD positions typically are 50% positions.
