We wish to appoint a fulltime Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Syntax for our
Linguistics Programme.
Our programme is renowned for its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in
theoretical, cognitive and sociolinguistics. The successful applicant will be
joining us at a time of new opportunities within the University for
cross-disciplinary research and teaching involving linguistics.
Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field, a track record of research
and publications in formal syntax and be an enthusiastic communicator of the
importance of syntax as a core component in the field of linguistics, and as
the nexus for intersections across disciplines. Desirable qualities are
experience in fieldwork and language documentation; languages of Asia-Pacific;
language variation and change (synchronic, diachronic, phylogenetic
approaches). Experience in course development and management and in
supervising student research is desirable, but early career academics and
recent PhD graduates are also encouraged to apply.
The position is available from February 2018, with a view to the successful
applicant being available to start no later than March 2018.
