Description:
Main responsibilities include teaching as well as supervision and examination
of degree projects and dissertations in the subject of Portuguese at the
undergraduate and advanced levels. The languages of instruction are Portuguese
and English. The position includes a special responsibility for teaching and
developing grammar and language proficiency courses at the beginner´s level.
The holder of this position is also expected to contribute to teaching and
supervision in postgraduate education, participate in the administration of
the department and develop its external contacts. In addition, he or she is
expected to actively seek external funds. Time for research is included in the
position.
Qualification requirements:
In order to qualify for the position, the applicant must have obtained a
doctoral degree in Portuguese or have corresponding scientific competence and
have demonstrated educational skills. Applicants must have documented
experience in teaching and supervision in the subject area of Portuguese. A
general assessment criterion is the ability to work with other people, as well
as other general abilities required to perform one’s duties.
Assessment criteria:
In the selection among eligible candidates, special and equal emphasis will be
attached to scientific and educational skills. The applicant’s research skills
should be demonstrated through individual research in the fields of Second
Language Acquisition and Multilingualism as well as Romance Linguistics within
Portuguese. Furthermore, the applicant's prospects for developing research in
cooperation with the Department’s researchers will be assessed. Pedagogical
skills should be demonstrated through the planning, development and
implementation of teaching as well as supervision on BA, MA and PhD levels.
Strong emphasis will be placed on the experience of educational development
work in grammar and language proficiency courses in Portuguese, for example,
through the writing of teaching materials, documented ability to work with
colleagues and fellow researchers, as well as documented teaching experience
in English. Emphasis will be placed on proven and documented administrative
skills, experience of international cooperation and ability to interact with
the surrounding community.
Teaching and learning in higher education:
Completed training in teaching and learning in higher education worth at least
15 credits, or equivalent knowledge, is an advantage.
Additional information:
An applicant who does not have at least 15 higher education credits in
teaching and learning in higher education, and is not deemed to have acquired
equivalent knowledge, must complete such training within the first two years
of employment. Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement at the time of
appointment, but the candidate should be prepared to carry out teaching and
administrative duties that require proficiency in Swedish within two years of
employment.
