Meeting Description:
The conference has two major objectives, namely to discuss African languages
and literatures in the context of sustainable development, which is a primary
preoccupation of most African countries, and to examine African languages,
literature and culture in the light of the new socio-political and economic
dynamics of our continent.

Literature/Culture:
- The role of literature and culture in Africa’s sustainable development
- African literature as a factor in Africa’s innovative ideas
- African literature and literary criticism
- Literature, gender and relations of power
- Politics, History and Religion in African Literature
- Media and communication of African culture
- Indigenous Knowledge Systems and African literature
Submission of Abstracts:
Abstracts of not more than 300 words should be emailed, not later than 30
April, 2018, to: Prof. E.E. Kari ethelbert.kari at mopipi.ub.bw or Dr. R.O.B.
Nhlekisana nhlekisana at mopipi.ub.bw. Abstracts should be single-spaced, at
least 11-points font, on one page (A4) with 2.54 cm (1 inch) on left and right
margins. Apart from the title and abstract text, authors' names, institutional
affiliation, and contact information should appear on a separate page.
Abstracts received will be evaluated for relevance to the Conference and a
decision taken and communicated to author(s) promptly.
