Description:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, housed within the
Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina, has a
9-month, tenure-track assistant professor position available beginning in
August 2018.
Qualified applicants will have a PhD in Communication Sciences & Disorders or
related field. Responsibilities include conducting research in area of
expertise, teaching, and service. The Department has very low teaching loads
for tenure-track lines. Preferred areas of research include dysphagia or
voice, but all areas will be considered for highly qualified applicants.
Preference will be given to applicants with a strong record or promise of
extramural funding and those with the Certificate of Clinical Competence from
the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-SLP), although the
latter is not required.
The Department has strong ties within the Arnold School of Public Health, the
USC Institute for Mind and Brain, the McCausland Center for Brain Imaging,
Palmetto Health hospital, and the local VA hospital. It currently has 25
full-time faculty and offers two CAA-accredited speech-language pathology
master’s degree programs (on-campus and distance-learning) and a PhD program.
The University of South Carolina has a Carnegie Foundation ranking of “very
high research activity.”
