Description:
The CASE department of the National Supercomputing Center - Barcelona
Supercomputing Center seeks Natural Language Processing experts for a newly
established Language Technologies R&D group. CASE will host a Technical
Management Office (OTG) and a reference center to support the Plan for the
Advancement of Language Technology through scalable processing platforms and
the use of HPC (High Performance Computing).
BSC-CASE is looking for a NLP Expert: Language Processing Platform.
Key Duties:
- Defining components, modules and resources for industrial scale processing
platforms, as well as establishing the standards necessary to guarantee
interoperability.
- Supervise the different projects related to the Plan during the project.
- Coordinate internally and externally regarding the actions, resources and
infrastructure implemented in the OTG to avoid redundancies
Requirements:
- Education: PhD in fields relevant to the computational processing of natural
language (computer science, linguistics, etc.)
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
- Extensive experience in the development and design of robust modular
linguistic processing pipelines, in real-world use contexts and for scalable
and distributed platforms
- Team management experience in public and private R & D projects (European
and national projects)
- Advanced programming skills (Python, Java) and modern development and
continuous integration methodologies (GIT, SVN)
- Experience writing well documented technical reports and wide scope project
applications
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques applied to NLP
- Working knowledge of Spanish language, in addition to English.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:
- Knowledge of any of the co-official languages of the Spanish State
- Demonstrable experience of the following NLP platforms and libraries: UIMA,
DKPro, GATE, Freeling, IXA, OpenMINTED and NLTK.
Conditions:
- The position will be located at BSC within the Computational Architectures
in Science and Engineering Department.

- Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications

- Duration of the contract: 1 year renewable until 3 years, with a test period
