Subject: Volume on Dyslexia and Linguistic Research
We invite proposals for a volume regarding linguistic research on dyslexia in
young adults.
Linguistic research has only recently started to investigate dyslexia.
Research on dyslexia necessarily involves an interdisciplinary approach.
Linguistic research cannot proceed independently from the insights of
neuro-scientific research on the cognitive and neurological substrata of the
deficit. Similarly, neuro-scientific research can benefit from advances in
linguistic studies and language teaching.
The volume will collect articles that discuss the results of theoretical and
applied linguistic research produced within various fields including
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics and applied linguistics.
We invite proposals on semantics and dyslexia (specifically on vocabulary
acquisition and lexical semantics), pragmatics and dyslexia, sociolinguistics
and dyslexia, and contributions focusing on the teaching of languages other
than English. Papers should highlight the relevance of linguistic research in
dyslexia studies and provide an introductory overview of the area of interest.
The working language of the volume is English. Abstracts of 300 words plus
references must be submitted to gloria.cappelli at unipi.it and
sabrina.noccetti at unipi.it by 31 March 2017. Proposals should also include the
following information: author’s name, institutional affiliation, email
address, and a brief bio. Authors will be notified of acceptance by 31 April
2017. Selected papers will be included in a volume to be proposed to a
prestigious international publisher.
