Meeting Description:
This is a conference dedicated to the teaching of ( and the use of) English as
a second or foreign language for medicine and healthcare. English for
Healthcare will be of interest to ESP teachers and researchers, medical
interpreters, medical translators and training providers.

This unique conference is dedicated to the teaching of English for healthcare
and medicine. It aims to encourage an exchange of ideas particularly those
related to practical classroom experience, to stimulate discussion and to
provide a platform for the presentation of new approaches and materials in
this increasingly important branch of English for Specific Purposes.
The conference attracts language teachers working with health professionals,
both in training and in the workplace, course providers and those from the
medical translation and interpreting field, both practitioners and teachers.
Call for Papers:
Session areas include but are not limited to:

- Task-Based, Project-Based Instruction
- Teacher Education/CPD
Types of Sessions:
Workshop: A practical, hands-on session where participants & presenter(s) are
actively engaged in finding solutions to an issue or in developing specific
teaching techniques. 60 minutes.
Practice-oriented Presentation: Preferably focused on classroom practice. 35
minutes with 5 minutes questions
Research-oriented Presentation: A summary of research pitched to a general
audience of professionals (not academics from a sub-field). 20 minutes with 5
minutes questions.
Dialogue: A facilitated discussion with an expert in a specific & current
aspect of the field who engages with the audience - 20 minutes with 5 minutes
questions
(Hot)Teaching Tip ---5-minute 'hot' session presenting a great teaching idea.
Conducted with other 'hot' presenters back-to-back.
Poster: Posters are especially suitable for academic research and we're very
keen to encourage such submissions (A1/A0).
Abstract Format:
- Between 150 - 300 words maximum (no references)
- Do not use any special fonts, such as bold print or caps (italics fine)
- Do not add tables, photos, or diagrams to your abstract
- Do not indent your paragraphs, leave one space between paragraphs instead
- Your abstract should clearly summarise the content of your session/poster
Abstract Type:
Indicate the type of abstract that you are submitting during the submission
process (e.g. workshop)
