Meeting Description:

Bridging the Gap between Research and Classroom Practice.
ELT professionals who wish their teaching to be informed by current research
in the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) may be faced with a
challenge: finding relevant publications which are both accessible and of
practical application in their own specific teaching contexts. This two-day
event was conceived to reduce the divide between research into the teaching
and learning of English and everyday classroom practice.

This conference aims to bring together curious teachers, researchers and
practitioner-researchers to promote a spirit of enquiry and mutually
beneficial collaboration. We hope to achieve a common aim: demystifying SLA
research and encouraging teachers to read, engage with, and participate in
relevant studies with clear practical grounding in order to ‘bridge the gap’
between theory and practice.

To this end the conference offers opportunities to share classroom-based
research, both through workshops and talks of interest to practising teachers.

The ELTRIA conference will take place at the EIM (The School of Modern
Languages) of the University of Barcelona. The conference immediately follows
the prestigious Task Based Language Teaching and Learning (TBLT) conference,
also taking place at the University of Barcelona, for more details follow this
