Meeting Description:
Third International ESP Conference and Summer School organized and hosted by
the University of Niš, 3 – 7 July 2017.
This event is to establish a new scholarly gathering format, giving
significant amount of time to participants to fully present their research and
expertise, and for discussions to be truly constructive.
The purpose of this gathering is to promote English for Specific Purposes
(ESP), its rising importance and presence among the adult population in ELT,
to exchange ideas and practices in this field. We invite scholars, lecturers,
researchers, and students with experience and interest in this field to join
us in summer 2017, at a showcase and exchange of cutting edge research and
practice of ESP and language learning technologies.

The organizer of the event is the University of Niš, Serbia, in partnership

Call for Papers:
Establishing the Predominant Position of ESP within Adult ELT
3rd International ESP Conference and Summer School

We invite submission proposals in the fields and the related areas of English
for Specific and Academic Purposes, general and applied linguistics,
associated language learning technologies.
Presentation Formats:
Summer School - Teacher trainings: This is the focus of our event. We believe
ESP lecturers create highly valuable, self made material and teaching
strategies regarding various aspects of ESP research and practice. If
presented as a detailed, comprehensive overview, colleagues working in the
same or similar area could immensely benefit from. You are invited to submit a
proposal for a two hour teacher training of your own design, (three hours upon
request), this time slot to include discussion. The proposal of up to 1000
words should contain the topic, identification of the area of ESP,
methodology, content, output, and target audience.
Conference Papers: Submissions of 300 words for 20 minute presentation,
followed by 10 minute discussion time.
Workshops: Submissions of 500 words for a one hour practice presentation
including questions and discussion time.
Special social event – books presentation: Participants who wish to have their
research or text books presented are invited to contact us. We will organize
one evening social event dedicated to newly published relevant issues and
editions.
Submission guidelines: Submissions should be concise summaries of the content
of the proposed presentation and should include author’s/authors’ names,
affiliation, contact details and a short bio note. Length of submissions is
expected to be the following: for teacher training up to 12000 words,
conference papers up to 8000 word, and workshops up to 10000 words. All
proposals will be double-blind peer reviewed.

Publications: All accepted papers will be published as thematic proceedings in
the Journal of Teaching English for Specific and Academic Purposes, indexed in
Thomson Reuters Emerging Citation Index and with DOI numbers

After the conference, a selection of the best papers is to be published with
Cambridge Scholars Publishing.
Important Dates:
Submission is open until 15 April 2017.
Acceptance of papers will be announced on 30 April 2017.
Deadline for full papers submission is 31 May 2017.
Conference fee payment deadline 1 May 2017.
Conference Fee:
Conference fee includes: conference kit, proceedings, lunch and refreshments
each day of the conference, gala dinner, excursion on the 7 July.
Presenters €200
Non-presenters €150
The venue for ESP conference and summer school is the rectorate building of
the University of Niš.
Visas: The organizers will issue official letters of submission acceptance for
presentation, but cannot assist in obtaining visas.
