Description:

The Departments of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (LLC) and Latin
American, Latino, and Iberian Studies (LALIS) at the University of Richmond
invite applications for the Interim Director of the Global Studio, the
University’s language resource center, which helps students, faculty, and
staff use technology to enhance language learning and cross-cultural
communication. This is a one-year (renewable), non-tenure track position.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in second language acquisition or related
fields (in hand by the May-June 2017 start date) with a focus on instructional
technology (Educational Technology, Computer-Assisted Language Learning). The
successful candidate will teach one course per year, either in one of the
languages taught by LLC or LALIS (Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, French, Galician,
German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish) or in
linguistics. The candidate will manage the Global Studio, provide technology
support to the LLC and LALIS faculty, hire and manage student technology
fellows to help with classroom projects, and be in charge of placement testing
and language assessments for LLC and LALIS. Participation in
technology-facilitated instruction and curricular developments will be
expected. The candidate will also direct a growing self-directed language
program and teach a half-unit “Introduction to Self-Directed Language” course
each semester.
