Description:

A Linguistic Engineer is passionate about applied linguistics and linguistic
applications.  This R&D position directly supports the development of
automated dialogue system technology.  The Linguistic Engineer will be
responsible for creating and maintaining language models within our Natural
Language Understanding engine, as well as the analysis and curation of
dialogue transcripts.  The Linguistic Engineer will assist in the study of
linguistic data to help drive future product development and improvement, and
will act as a consultant to other teams requiring expertise in language
matters. The job requires close interaction with Development, QA, Support, and
Professional Services teams.  We are seeking a candidate with linguistic
analysis experience, excellent communication skills, proficiency in multiple
languages, and strong analytical skills.

- Technical skills to learn how to use new tools quickly and independently.
- Professional demeanor to maintain and enhance relationships.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate in a team oriented
development environment.
- Excellent analytical skills, including in the application of statistical
methodologies to linguistic research.  
- Demonstrates technical flexibility, and creativity in problem solving.

REQUIRED SKILLS

- Previous experience with linguistic analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, with a focus on Applied Linguistics, or
Computational Linguistics; specialized study in Dialogue or Discourse, or a
Master’s degree, is a plus.
- Excellent English communication skills, plus fluency in multiple languages,
with a particular interest in Arabic, Chinese, or Italian.
- Knowledge of regular expressions is a plus.
- Knowledge of XML is a plus.
