Special Issue ''Empirical and Experimental Research in Forensic Linguistics''
of Journal of Research Design and Statistics in Linguistics and Communication
Science (JRDS 4.2), December (2017), guest edited by Ángela Almela (CUD-UPCT)
and Gema Alcaraz-Mármol (UCLM).

The growth of Forensic Linguistics has been slow but firm. Initially, Forensic
Linguistics research was found within a wide range of disciplines:
linguistics, law, psychology and even anthropology or sociology. However, it
was not until the end of the 20th century when it stood up as a discipline
itself. Traditionally, it has comprised the broad areas of Language of the Law
and Language of the Legal Process. Nowadays it also includes the use of
Language as Evidence, where linguistic evidence is used for the forensic
comparison of oral and written texts to achieve different objectives of
forensic practice with higher accuracy, especially by virtue of quantitative
approaches to linguistic phenomena built on real research.

We are pleased to announce, within this framework, the forthcoming special
issue of the Journal of ResearchDesign and Statistics in Linguistics and
Communication Science (JRDS) devoted to Empirical Research in Forensic
Linguistics.

Suitable topics for submission by potential contributors include, but are not
limited to:
- Authorship analysis and attribution 
- Plagiarism detection
- Multilingual tools for forensic linguistics 
- Corpora compilation (statements, confessions, suicide notes, etc.)
- Linguistic profiling 
- Language as evidence in civil cases (trademark, contract disputes,
defamation, product liability, deceptive trade practice)
- Author/speaker identification

Important dates:
30 June 2017 - Deadline for manuscripts
30 Sept 2017 - Feedback from peer review (acceptance/ revision/ rejection)
31 Oct 2017 - Submission of final versions according to suggestions of
referees

Submissions for articles (original research), previously anonymized, should
have from 6,000 to 10,000 words (including all elements of text).
All submissions should be sent to both guest editors at the same time.
All submissions for articles will be blind peer-reviewed. Please, ensure a
blind review according to submission guidelines.
Language of all submissions: English.
