Meeting Description:

The History of English Language in Poznań biannual conference (HEL-P),
organised by the Department of the History of English, Faculty of English,
Adam Mickiewicz University, aims at bringing together Polish and international
scholars studying the history of the English language.

The Conference Organisers are planning two plenary lectures and a number of
individual paper sessions; a poster session is also possible depending on
demand.

Our plenary speakers are:

1. Prof. Julia Fernández Cuesta, Universidad de Sevilla
2. Dr. Joanna Kopaczyk, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań / The University
of Edinburgh

Conference venue:

The conference will take place in Collegium Novum, Adam Mickiewicz University,
Poznań, Poland, one of the University's most impressive buildings, happily
situated in the city centre within a convenient distance from the Main Railway
Station and Ławica Airport.

Registration and conference fee

Online registration will be available through HEL-P 2017 website under
Registration & Conference Fees (currently not active) in the beginning of
August 2017.

Registration: 8 January 2017 — 11 November 2017
 Regular conference fee: €80 (including the reception)
 Student* conference fee: €40 (€55 including the reception)
* At the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. level


Call for Papers: 

You are cordially invited to take part in the History of the English Language
— Poznań 2017 conference hosted by the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz
University in Poznań, Poland.

Participants at all stages of their careers not planning on delivering a
presentation are also welcome.

The organisers invite papers presenting original research on any aspect of the
history of the English language, regardless of theoretical framework or
historical period (the ''history'' part is understood as no later than 1950s
for purely diachronic studies). Papers with a literary or cultural twist are
also welcome provided language plays the central role in their organisation.

Submission of Abstracts:

All submissions are to be sent to hel-p2017 at wa.amu.edu.pl.

- The abstract must remain fully anonymous. Please make sure that your files
do not include your name in the document properties either
- The abstracts have to be between 300-500 words, excluding the title,
linguistic examples, and references
- The preferred format is A4 sheet with 2cm margins; font Times New Roman
14pts bold (title) and 12pts (body)
- The only file format accepted is .pdf . However, please observe that should
your proposal be accepted you will be asked to send in an editable copy
(.doc(x) or .odt).

Submission deadline for all abstracts is 15 May 2017.
Notification of acceptance is 25 June 2017.
