Description:
Two 4-year positions as PhD research scholar are available at NHH Norwegian
School of Economics.
One PhD Research Scholarship is available within the field of terminology,
corpora and language resources.
One PhD Research Scholarship is available within the field of Professional
and Intercultural Communication.
The PhD programme offered by the Department of Professional and Intercultural
Communication aims to give dedicated students solid training in performing
high quality research. The training is based on close cooperation with other
national and international institutions offering similar programmes. The
students must undertake relevant course work equivalent to 45 ECTS. Additional
thematic courses are organized by LingPhil, the Norwegian graduate researcher
school in linguistics and philology. Given the international focus of the
Department, the students are strongly encouraged to carry out some of their
coursework abroad.
Qualifying education should normally be a master’s degree in English, French,
Spanish or German language; or computational linguistics / general linguistics
combined with a relevant educational background in one of the above languages.
Emphasis will be placed on the relevance of the master’s thesis to the
research field of terminology, corpora and language resources, or, in the
second case, on one of the Department's four research areas (Terminology,
corpora and language resources / Discourse analysis and genre studies /
Specialised translation / Intercultural communication). Candidates will be
evaluated on the quality and topical relevance of their research proposal.
Some formal education in economics, business administration or other social
sciences is an advantage, and a good command of a Scandinavian language is
desirable.
