Description:

International Christian University (ICU) is a private, bilingual liberal arts
university with an undergraduate College of Liberal Arts and graduate
programs. ICU’s educational mission is based on Christian and democratic
principles. ICU has approximately 3,000 students and over 150 faculty members
from Japan and overseas.  The university is located on a wooded campus in the
suburbs of Tokyo. 
 
We are pleased to announce an open search for a tenure-track full-time
Assistant Professor or above in the field of Applied Linguistics specializing
in English Language Education. The successful applicant is expected to teach
general education, foundation, and area major courses in the College of
Liberal Arts, as well as courses in the Graduate School.
 
Qualifications include:

- Ph.D. or the equivalent in Applied Linguistics or a related field is
required.
- Language of instruction: English, or English and Japanese
- Commitment to the University’s Christian mission
- Specific field: The candidate should preferably have research and education
experience in one or more of the following areas:
1) English as a second/foreign language education in K-12 education (i.e.
primary and secondary education)
2) Second language acquisition, methodology, pedagogy and materials &
curriculum development
- Teaching experience in an English Teacher Certification Program in Japan
would be an asset.

Applicants should submit:

- Curriculum Vitae (Format free).
- List of Academic Publications (Do not send actual publications until
requested.).
- Names and contact information for three references and one person who can
testify to the applicant’s commitment to Christianity (4 people in total).
- Cover letter describing why the applicant is appropriate for the position.

All documents (1 – 4) must be submitted in English.

Applications must arrive no later than May 31, 2017. (Deadline may be extended
until a most appropriate candidate is found.)
