Subject: Call for Papers: A Festscrift for Lendzemo Constan
Professor Lendzemo Constantine Yuka, of the Department of Linguistics Studies,
University of Benin, Nigeria, will be 50 years in June, 2018. He has over the
past two and half decades, taught Linguistics in various Nigerian
Universities. His research interests span across all aspects of Linguistics.
Indeed, Professor Yuka is a central figure in Linguistics Studies in Nigeria
and beyond. He is External Examiner and External Assessor to many Nigerian
Universities. He has supervised to completion a plethora of Masters Students
and a good number of PhDs. Professor Yuka has held several administrative
positions of responsibility both within and outside the University of Benin.
He is the current Secretary-Treasurer of the West African Linguistic Society
(WALS).
Professor Yuka’s colleagues and students are planning to honour him and his
research efforts with a book on his 50th Birthday. The Book will be titled:
Contemporary Studies in African Languages and Literature. The content will
address theoretical and empirical issues in African Languages and Literature.
Therefore, contributions are welcome from scholars interested in theoretical
and pragmatic issues in African languages and literature. Such contributions
may address the following areas (but not limited to them), where Professor
Yuka has made significant impact in his research endeavours.
- Descriptive Grammar
- Syntactic Theories
- Dialect Syntax
- Morphosyntactic Variation
- Evaluative Morphology
- Psycholinguistics
- Language Contact
- Language Planning and Language Policy
- The Sociolinguistics of Nigeria and Cameroonian Pidgin
- Proverb Studies
- African Literature
Contributions which should be between 4000 and 8000 words should be sent by

The deadline for submission of papers is June 30, 2017. Decisions on
submissions will be sent out not later than September 1, 2017. More details
will be provided at the paper assessment stage.
