Help improve how millions of people learn languages on Duolingo.
You will join Duolingo’s research team and support our efforts to advance
Duolingo’s mission through science. The internship will last approximately
three months, and the ideal time frame is summer 2017 (but we are flexible).
You will be making contributions to Duolingo’s most popular courses for
English and/or Spanish learners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work side by side with talented researchers, designers, engineers, and
product managers to bring research-informed product features to life
- Help create assessment tools to measure how Duolingo users learn
- Design course content for specific topics and language competencies
REQUIREMENTS:
- ABD or PhD in linguistics, applied linguistics, cognitive psychology, or a
related field
- Research expertise in learning (second language acquisition a big plus)
- Experience teaching either English or Spanish as a second language
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- A desire to make the world a better place through technology
- Ability to work in the U.S. legally without sponsorship
EXCEPTIONAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
- Experience creating language curricula
- High proficiency in and experience teaching both English and Spanish
- Experience learning additional languages
- Strong publication record in learning sciences or a related field
