Description:
The Department of Linguistics at Indiana University invites applications for a
one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in the area of Computational
Linguistics to begin August 1, 2017. The successful applicant will be
comfortable teaching courses ranging from a gentle introduction to computers
and language for undergraduate non-majors to statistical NLP for dedicated
graduate students. They may also have the opportunity to engage in student
mentoring, with a variety of students enrolled in one of IU's many CL degree
programs (http://cl.indiana.edu/programs.html).
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) by August 1,
2017 in Computational Linguistics, or in Linguistics, Computer Science, or a
related field with extensive experience in computational linguistics. Ideal
candidates will have research and teaching interests that align well with the
department and the Computational Linguistics program at IU, as well as the
wider IU campus. Indiana University and the Department of Linguistics have a
tradition of diverse language and linguistics education, a well-developed
supercomputing infrastructure, an extensive Cognitive Science program, and the
presence of Linguist List, among many other opportunities for integration.
