Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; Lexicography; Translation

Call Deadline: 30-Nov-2017

Call for Papers:

Deadline extension: trans-kom Special Issue related to ILKR 2017 ''Industry
4.0 meets Language and Knowledge Resources''

Description:

trans-kom is an academic journal for translation and technical communication
research published solely on the Internet. trans-kom publishes research
findings and contributions to academic discourse on subjects concerning
translation and interpreting, technical communication, language for special
purposes, terminology, and related fields.

Recently, new topics have come to the fore in technical communication, such as
''Information 4.0'', ''Linked (Open) Data'' and ''Augmented Reality'', just to
name a few. It seems to be clear that the future will bring about new ways of
producing, presenting and consuming technical content, not least due to the
widespread use of mobile devices. An overarching question is what research in
the fields of translation and technical communication can contribute to all
that at the interface between the industry 4.0 world and the language and
knowledge resources world.

Since there is a pressing need for academic reflection on this, the following
topics should be explored further in a dedicated trans-kom Special Issue (to
be published in June 2018):

- The present and the future of technical content production, presentation,
consumption
- Industry 4.0 and its relation to language service providers and language
service clients
- Multimodality and accessibility of technical content for lay and expert
audiences
- Processing big language data in various formats and media
- Present and future business opportunities for language service providers
related to language and knowledge resources
