Meeting Description:

The aim of the conference is to present research and exchange experience in
the following areas:

а) Teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL) in various educational
institutions, including higher education institutions
b) Teaching of various types of translation and interpretation into Russian,
as well as from Russian into other foreign languages.

1. Translation/interpretation teaching:
- General translation/interpretation teaching;
- Teaching of special text translation/interpretation;
- Sworn (certified) translator/interpreter training;
- The use of IT technologies, including CAT tools, Internet etc.;
- The use of traditional and modern mass media in preparation of
translation/interpretation tasks;
- Current trends in translation/interpretation teaching with regard to the
present needs of the translation/interpretation market.

2. Teaching Russian as a foreign language to Slavic students:
- Interlingual interference;
- Knowledge of culturems of Russian-language countries;
- Cultural specificity of Slavic environment;
- Modern teaching methods (е-learning, teletandem, tutoring, online learning
platforms etc.);
- Modern programmes for RFL teaching and language teaching materials that take
into account the specificity of students’ native languages.

3. Teaching Russian as a foreign language to non-Slavic students:
- Interlingual interference;
- Cultural, social etc. similarities and differences;
- Modern teaching methods (е-learning, teletandem, tutoring, online learning
platforms etc.);
- Modern programmes for RFL teaching and language teaching materials that take
into account the specificity of students’ native languages.  

4. Russian language for students of Philology, Applied Linguistics and Russian
Studies:
- Foreign language teaching in the context of mass learning in higher
education;
- The influence of the changes in the system of higher education on curricula
and the language teaching process;
- Optimisation of language and intercultural competencies in the area of
Russian language (examples of best practice);
- Educational materials for higher education institutions, including
educational lexicography;
- Teaching of theoretical linguistic and translation/interpretation subjects
to students of Philology, Applied Linguistics and Russian Studies.

Call for Papers:

Department of Russian Language (Institute of Russian Studies) and Department
of Semiotics (Institute of Applied Linguistics) of the University of Warsaw
are pleased to invite you to the international scientific conference “Russian
language: teaching Russian as a foreign language and
translation/interpretation teaching”.

Languages of the conference: Russian and Polish.
The standard length for presentations will be 20 minutes.
