Meeting Description:
Lexicon, Discourse and Speaker Studies is an international scientific
conference dedicated to contemporary issues connected with facilitating
cross-cultural communication, this time with focus on the role of
cross-cultural contacts in supporting, not hindering, development of local
cultures.
The conference will bring together young linguists including undergraduate and
graduate students, as well as teachers and research workers under 35 with a
perspective on bringing about cross-cultural understanding and acquiring
multiculturalism in educational contexts.
In light of growing glocalization, as an alternative or new stage of
globalization, we are interested in exploring how national language ideologies
are reflected in semantics and pragmatics and acquired by the language
learners. We are also interested in comparing ethnic discourse strategies,
techniques and results of mastering them in classroom contexts. Another focus
is the role of literature and translation in cross-cultural discourse.
The Conference will be hosted by Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University,
Russia.
