EFL mobility grants (Paris, France) - 5th call for applications
1. Context of the call
The aim of the Laboratoire d’excellence “Empirical Foundations of Linguistics
: data, methods, models” (Labex EFL) is to promote innovative and
interdisciplinary research within Linguistics and its related fields. Specific
interest is given to empirical foundations (corpus analysis and experimental
methods) of linguistic research.
For the 5th time, the Labex EFL offers 5 mobility grants for a period of 3
months each to PhD students in linguistics and related fields.
The Labex EFL (www.labex-efl.com) is a nine-year project, funded by the French
government (ANR-10-LABX-0083). It gathers 11 research teams (CRLAO, HTL,
Lacito, Lattice, LIPN, Llacan, LLF, LPP-P3, LPP-P5, MII, Sedyl) from 5
universities, members of Sorbonne Paris Cité University, (Université Sorbonne
Nouvelle, Université Paris Diderot, Université Paris Descartes, Université
Paris 13 et Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales INALCO),
in a partnership with the French National Center for Scientific Research
(CNRS), the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation
(INRIA) and the French Research and Development Institute (IRD).
2. Grant description
Candidates must be PhD students from a University outside France, working in
different fields of linguistics, including but not limited to empirical
linguistics, typology, field linguistics, computational linguistics,
psycholinguistics.
The selected candidates will receive a stipend of 4,000 euros.
The mobility will have to take place before June 2019.
During their fellowship, they will be hosted by one of the research units of
Labex EFL and will attend research seminars at one of the partner
universities. A certificate of attendance and validation of these seminars
will be provided at the end of the semester.
3. Applications
The application file should include the following documents :
- CV and cover letter
- An official document certifying their enrollment in a PhD programme
- A statement of 4-5 pages explaining their PhD project and its relevance to
the research topics of the Labex EFL
- A letter of recommendation from their PhD supervisor
- A letter of invitation from a local EFL project advisor cosigned by the
director of the inviting laboratory in France.
4. Deadline and selection process
Deadline for applications : January 14th, 2018 (midnight – Paris time)
Applications should be sent to the project manager Christel Préterre
(christel.preterre at univ-paris3.fr), copy to Pollet Samvelian
(pollet.samvelian at univ-paris3.fr) and Christian Puech
(christian.puech at univ-paris3.fr).
The applications will be examined by the Labex EFL Scientific Council and
decisions will be communicated in the course of February 2018.
