Description:

The Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) at Monterey seeks
nominations and applications for the Dean of the Graduate School of
Translation, Interpretation and Language Education (GSTILE).

The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey offers its
students a wide range of professional degrees to prepare them for careers in
fields including language teaching, translation and interpretation,
international security, policy, development, education management, and
environmental policy. The institute has maintained an international focus
since its founding in 1955.

The Graduate School of Translation, Interpretation, and Language Education
offers internationally-renowned degree programs, specializations and
coursework.

The Translation, Interpretation, and Localization Management program is the
world's foremost training ground for translators, conference and community
interpreters, and localization experts. GSTILE's Language Studies (LS) program
offers unique and professionally-relevant, content-based courses taught in
different languages, primarily for students pursuing graduate degrees in
International Policy and Management, with a comprehensive curriculum focused
on international politics, security, and development, among other issues. MIIS
also provides intercultural competence (ICC) coursework and a specialization,
focused on development of intercultural knowledge, skills, and attitudes for
students across the Institute.

The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) / Teaching Foreign
Language (TFL) program combines an applied curriculum, emphasis on emerging
research and theory, practical experience and strong career development to
prepare language educators. Language & Professional Programs (LPP) offers
intensive and customized language programs, as well as professional
development opportunities for working translators, interpreters and language
teachers.

Reporting to the Institute's Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean
acts as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Graduate School
of Translation, Interpretation and Language Education, providing leadership
and oversight to all its various degree and non-degree related activities. The
Dean is responsible for all aspects of the academic administration, including
academic centers, departments, programs and facilities within GSTILE, as well
as budgeting and allocation of resources.
