Description:

Tenure-Track Position (Assistant Professor) in Experimental Phonetics at the
Department of Linguistics and Languages at McMaster University, starting date
July 1, 2018.

Areas of competence: Applicants should have a Ph.D., with evidence of a strong
research program, experimental expertise and teaching experience. Familiarity
in all aspects of phonetics with a focus on experimental methods and an
interest in clinical applications are expected. The successful candidate may
be expected to phonetics, phonology, anatomy of speech and hearing, and
statistics/ research methods, and contribute to McMaster Speech-Language
Pathology program. The department houses a research centre (ARiEAL) with a
phonetics lab, as well as a neurolinguistics lab, brain and memory lab,
eye-tracking lab, and language structures & bilingualism lab. It is hoped that
the successful candidate will pursue research collaborations with colleagues
within and outside of the Department.

The Department home to two undergraduate programs (Linguistics; Cognitive
Science of Language) and a graduate program (MSc; PhD) in the Cognitive
Science of Language. We have expertise in Linguistics, Cognitive Science,
Neurolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Corpus

Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Applications
received by January 8, 2018 will receive full consideration, but the position
will remain open until filled.
