Description:

The University of Delaware Treatment Efficacy & Language Learning Lab (TELL
Lab) studies the language learning processes of typically developing children,
children with Developmental Language Disorder, and children at risk for poor
language learning due to environmental factors (e.g., poverty).  Our research
consists of experimental studies, treatment studies (i.e, behavioral clinical
trials, and computational modeling. 

The TELL Lab Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the efforts of the
lab to collect research data. A significant proportion of duties involve
supporting participant recruitment and retention efforts, including organizing
outreach to the local community, administering and interpreting standardized
and informal assessments, interacting with children, families, and schools and
providing treatment to children with language impairment within an
experimental protocol. The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating
lab calendars and scheduling, training and supervising student research
assistants; entering, coding, and analyzing data; submitting and renewing IRB
protocols and ensuring that research is conducted in an ethical fashion. The
incumbent may also supervise graduate student clinicians who participate in
treatment research and/or participate in the publication and grant writing
process. Given scheduling needs for training students and meeting with
participants and community partners, the Lab Coordinator must be flexible and
be able to independently establish scheduling priorities as well as be able to
perform all laboratory procedures.

This is a grant funded opportunity.

 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enforce and model University of Delaware human subjects policies and
procedures within the laboratory to ensure that human subjects research is
conducted in an ethical fashion.
- Coordinate the recruitment and retention of research participants, including
actively seeking out community partners and identifying ways to enhance the
lab’s profile within relevant communities (speech pathology, special
education, early childhood education). Effectively connect with parents and
community partners and communicate research needs and goals.  

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and four years related experience, or equivalent
combination of education and experience. Degree in speech pathology or an
allied field preferred.
- Experience working with children and families.
- Ability to rapidly establish rapport and manage behavior in a variety of
one-on-one situations.
- Basic competence with computer software including MS Word, Access, Excel and
PowerPoint. .
- Ability to communicate effectively with local technology, IRB, and HR
support.
- Excellent organizational, team, and interpersonal skills required for
interfacing with staff, faculty administrators, students, and other
constituents.
