Description:

Applications are invited for a highly motivated postdoctoral Research
Associate, funded by the Centre for Applied Research and Outreach in Language
Education (CAROLE) within the Department of Literature, Language and Theatre,
Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Humanities at the University of
Greenwich, London, UK. 

The successful candidate should have a PhD in Linguistics, Psycholinguistics,
Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology or a relevant field, and have a strong
background in Bilingualism/Second Language Acquisition research. S/he should
be familiar with psycholinguistic research methods with evidence of previous
research using various online data elicitation methods, as well as an active
research profile. Applicants with a strong background in Speech and Spoken
Word Recognition are encouraged to apply. 

The successful candidate will be working as part of the new CAROLE NOLTA lab
with Dr Xin Wang (X.Wang at gre.ac.uk) on a project that seeks to understand the
cognitive processing and mechanisms of tonal bilinguals (e.g. Mandarin-English
bilinguals). The lab focuses on empirical research exploring cognitive
foundations and processes of L2 learning/acquisition.
 
The Lab includes a Tobii TX300 Eye Tracker, a 64 ch NeuroScan EEG system, as
well as RT testing systems. The postdoctoral researcher must have expertise in
experimental design, recording, analysing and interpreting EEG/ERP data, and
relevant programming and statistical skills in language research. Eye Tracker
experience is an advantage. S/he will assist in training activities and will
be involved in writing grant proposals, collecting and analysing data,
disseminating results in peer-reviewed journals, workshops or conferences.
Teaching for our current postgraduate provision may also be required, as
appropriate.
