Meeting Description:
This is an EAP conference, which focuses on aspects of language use in
academia. This year we are looking at stance, and are interested in how we can
use various linguistic structures to develop an argument.
The Plenary Speaker will be Dr Zak Lancaster (Wake Forest University, North
Carolina).
Call for Papers:
We invite presentations on
- Teaching indicators of stance
- Modality
- Hedging, boosting and positioning
- Interaction in academic discourse
- Corpus-based analysis of stance
- Stance across the disciplines
- Genre specific expressions of stance
- Stance in spoken discourse
- Lexical markers of stance
- Authorial voice and argumentation
