Meeting Description:
The Purdue Linguistics Association, the School of Languages and Cultures, and
the Second Language Studies Program at Purdue University are happy to announce
the third Purdue Linguistics, Literature, and Second Language Studies
Conference (PLLS), formally known as the Purdue Languages and Cultures
Conference (PLCC). This interdisciplinary conference seeks presentations of
original research from graduate students and early career scholars in the
theme of ''Diversity and Divergence.'' This theme was chosen because it
highlights two contrasting ways of thinking about difference and
interdisciplinarity: diversity describes a state of variation within a set,
group, field, or community, while divergence describes a change of state
toward increasing dissimilarity and group separation. Preference will be given
to presentations that fit this theme although other topics in the areas of
linguistics, literature, and second language studies will also be considered.
Keynote Speakers for the conference include leading names in linguistics,
literature, and second language studies:
Dr. Mark Turner, Case Western Reserve University
Dr. Matthew Gordon, University of Missouri-Columbia
Dr. Aya Matsuda, Arizona State University
Call for Papers:
The Purdue Linguistics, Literature, and Second Language Studies Conference
(PLLS) is now accepting submissions for paper and poster presentations on
topics related to linguistics, literature, and second language studies.
- Panel proposals of four presentations should be submitted as follows: The
panel organizer should electronically submit a panel proposal, which cannot
exceed one page in length, and which should include the theme of the panel,
the organizer's name and contact information, and the names, contact
information, and affiliations of the panel participants. Each participant must
submit an individual abstract using our Google Form in addition to the panel
proposal. Please indicate that your presentation is part of a pre-organized
panel and list the title and organizer of the panel when you fill out the
Google Form.
- Individual abstracts should be no more than 500 words. Your abstract must
not contain any information identifying the author(s), including university
affiliation and program of study.
- All abstracts must be submitted in English. Your paper may be presented in a
language other than English; however, permission to do so is at the discretion
of the conference committee and will depend on whether we have enough interest
to justify a panel in the language.
- Deadline for abstract submission: December 1, 2017, 11:59PM
- To submit an abstract, please visit: https://goo.gl/forms/NVCSeKWX9MubQQA23
