Description:

The Department of English at Calvin College invites applications for a
full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment in Linguistics. Pending final
administrative approval, the appointment will begin August, 2018.

About the position:

The English Department seeks a candidate with a Ph.D. in Linguistics with a
concentration in ESL, and who demonstrates a capacity to contribute to a
growing linguistics major. Expertise in sociolinguistics, English grammar,
and/ or child language acquisition are desirable additional specializations. A
candidate should have outstanding promise as a classroom teacher, a record of
an active program of scholarship, and a dedication to the integration of
Christian faith and the study and teaching of linguistics. 
 
Faith and Educational Commitment:

A faculty member of Calvin College commits (1) to the Christian faith and to
the integration of faith, learning, and student development; and (2) to the
educational mission of Calvin College as a Christian liberal arts college
affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church.

Faculty responsibilities and resources:

Faculty members typically teach three courses in each of the fall and spring
semesters, as well as a January interim course.  They are expected to pursue
an active scholarship agenda, to advise undergraduate students, and to serve
on college and departmental committees.

expressed by the Reformed confessions and who have academic and personal
qualifications for teaching and scholarship. Calvin is building a tradition of
